WHAT IS WORK-STUDY?

Federal Work-Study provides part-time jobs for undergraduate and graduate students with financial need, allowing them to earn money to help pay education expenses. The program encourages community service work and work related to the student’s course of study. A student must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid to determine eligibility.

  *Students may only hold one work study position per term*

STEPS TO INQUIRE & APPLY

1) Contact the Office of Financial Aid (OFA) to see if you are eligible for the work-study program at

2) If eligible, let the Work-Study Coordinator know which jobs you would like to interview for.
3) Interview with supervisor(s) on selected job(s).
4) If hired, work with OFA and supervisor to receive and complete the necessary hiring paperwork.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Students must have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better to be eligible for work-study. (Please note: some positions require a higher minimum GPA)
  • Students on academic probation will not be permitted to work in a work-study position.
  • Students must be in term 2 or later of their academic program.
  • U.S. Citizens or eligible non-citizens will be required to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine whether the student has eligibility for the work-study program. 
  • International and DACA students can apply for work-study positions, but funding is limited and on a first come, first served basis.
  • Students cannot work over 20 hours per week. (Please note: some positions may not have availability for 20 hours a week)
  • Students must have completed all necessary hiring paperwork and be approved through the Office of Financial Aid BEFORE beginning work.
  • Students must be reliable and committed to the position.

Attached is a list of open work-study positions available on campus. Students must interview and be selected for the position by the area supervisor after approval into the work-study program by the Office of Financial Aid.

Please note the minimum requirements of the job you are interested in and only apply if you meet these requirements. Not all jobs will be open at all times, so please refer to the Open Work-Study jobs listing to see which positions currently need to be hired.

Any student who does not meet the minimum requirements for a position will not be considered.
